The Green Hornet - Review

Following the strange death of his father, the unruly Britt Reid (Seth Rogen ) is forced to having to handle the huge empire he inherited . Fired all the old servants, he decided to summarize only the young Kato ( Jay Chou ), only in preparing cappuccinos. Kato, however, has other skills, "hidden" Britt and just not realize it decides to use them to create (and create) the superhero "The Green Hornet" ("The Green Hornet").

Born in 1936 in the United States as a radio serial with the minds of George W. Trendle and Fran Striker , "The Green Hornet " had already been brought to the screen in the television series of 1966, when to play the role of Kato was a Bruce Lee . This time the project was the engine Seth Rogen as well as play the lead Britt also wrote the screenplay with Evan Goldberg .

The surprise was to see Michel Gondry behind the camera. The French had always used to us very special film where he could freely use his talent (almost) without brakes, so his name can be joined to a blockbuster like this brought a lot of curiosity. The mystery, however, is resolved. This is not the Gondry's "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (If Spotless Mind) " and "Be Kind Rewind " but it is unknown who "sacrifices" completely at the service of history and its actors, crafting a comedy that never would have thought it was directed by without it he had written in the manifest.

to overcome the real hand of Gondry, humble performer this time, the comedy takes over heavily and the body of Seth Rogen . He certainly does not resize its style, already seen in comedies like "Knocked " and "Pineapple Express " but only with the seasons of the nuances required to his character. Green Hornet is a fake superhero Britt sudden because of his Peter Pan syndrome, and thanks to the attitudes of Kato. In fact, if you were to find a superhero in this story, in which the superhero we speak not only to contradict the players, the only one who can be called such is precisely the Kato starring Jay Chou: very good in martial arts, that rivals James Bond to create objects of various kinds and a fantastic modify combat vehicles.

If Seth Rogen makes a superhero may seem like a madness in our eyes, it certainly seems more normal and very nice (re) see in the role of the bad actor as well as the giant Oscar Christoph Waltz . Once again, strategic convincing in the role of the antagonist. His Chudnofsky Benjamin is the most dangerous criminals in Los Angeles, is very bad and cruel forced to come to terms with his "advanced age", prevents it from being penalized because they feared to duty by his enemies who see it as outdated. This problem is explained perfectly by James Franco and his excellent cameo in the opening scene of the film, only to be taken after giving enough funny moments.

A little convincing, however, is the (odd) the presence of Cameron Diaz . A minimal role his own, stereotypes of women, in this case, a secretary who falls in love putting the two characters (of course) in conflict with each other. Not really the most out of your participation in the movie, also because we see it and not for ten minutes in all. Another apparition is that of wasted extraordinarily Tom Wilkinson who plays the editor James Reid, Britt's father.

All in all, however, between high and low "The Green Hornet" lets see, even pleasant. The important thing is not to be deceived and accept the fact that this is not the usual superhero movies but a comedy starring a superhero . Another thing which we do not be fooled by a 3D is increasingly abused in films where there is completely nothing but this, however, is another matter.
